    Here…

Ok, so it’s just the light body sans battery/mount, but for a tenner it’s worth a punt just to play around with!

I’ve ordered 2, and a helmet mount. No splitter cable unfortunately, so probably will take it apart, and use a £4.99 ‘magicshine’ cable?

I know the evenings are getting longer again, so gives you all summer to play!

Email from “denied.orders@gmail.com on behalf of Charlie Tennick” this afternoon stating that “unfortunately due to a content error i have had to cancel the order you have placed for the LUU lights. these lights were incorrectly advertised at £9.99. and we simply cannot send these to you at this price.”

When replied to about the fact that they actually took the payment not just “awaiting acceptance” so by rights are obligated to complete the order “Charlie” again said “we don’t have these lights. as some orders went through before we had noticed the error. we cannot send you something we do not have. there is no need to start quoting laws to us. we know our rights. one of which is the right to refuse custom.”

Love their punctuation and use of capitals…

There’s no way I want anything else I ordered – it was lenses and a mount for the sodding light, so they can stuff it and I certainly won’t be using them again.

That does seem to be pretty poor.

I was slightly put out to not receive an apology when I pointed out that a pair of their merino socks weren’t merino. But then I’ve been too lazy to attempt to return them too.

Maybe if you’d replied “oh okay then, everyone makes mistakes” instead of trying to be a smartarse, you wouldn’t be choking on your sense of entitlement right now!

They don’t have to sell at advertised price if it’s a result of a genuine mistake.

The same mistake was made in the mail shot … I ignored it as I figured it was just an alloy case at that price, then got all excited when people posted here it was a proper head unit .. but it’d sold out by the time I checked.

well i got a response stating:

    Please accept my apologies,

    We oversold on the lights!

Wasn’t trying to be a “smart arse” and unfortunately for them as they took payment for items that were “in stock” then they are obliged to fulfil the order. Unlike the Tesco cock-up where they only gave an “awaiting acceptance” so did not “make an offer to deal” which Planet-X did.
They should ensure that their system is checked more thoroughly before they “go live” with any sales, clearance, etc.
So for some they “oversold on the lights”, others it was “out of stock” and some get told “we cannot send them at that price”. Whether it was a genuine mistake or not doesn’t matter anymore as far as I’m concerned, their customer service and their employees are appalling and it serves them right if they lose money because of it.
The fact that the refund which they are now doing will take 3-5 days to come back but only 15secs to go from my account is hardly acceptable either…..

LOL @ Hammy taking on a mail order specialist… I know who I’ll back to win.
It was a mistake, you knew it was a mistake but hoped to make a killing on it, but it didn’t & won’t happen.
    No sympathy.

They do have to deal as they sent out an invoice and “acceptance of order” this morning.
In their own T&C’s it clearly states this and as such the contract is binding.
From their own T&C’s – “When you receive confirmation of your order, this indicates that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable.”
FWIW – the refund will take 3-5 days for me to receive the funds back irrespective of then processing it today.
As for not knowing it was a mistake? As far as I was concerned it was a light body at £9.99 – they had a light kit priced at £69.99 above it so it appeared to be a fair price for a clearance item.
Personally – I have no intention of dealing with them after their service so doesn’t really matter what they choose to do as long as my money is returned.

Where can you get a battery pack for one of these?

If your offer has been accepted (for example, you pay a deposit, or receive a confirmation email), generally you can insist that the retailer sells you the goods for the price they were advertised at

I’m no legal expert but the line above surely says that if they confirm the order they are generally obliged to pay, unless (if you continue reading) it was obviously a mistake…

To the man off the street £10 for a bike light is not unimaginable, my dad got one from lidl for a five spot…
