I love the way your all shouting about Stonor being wrong, and then saying fish pie is fine….erm how does that work exactly?

    I just want Binners lunch.

emsz, a fish pie is still a pie for the same reason that men still have nipples.

I hope that clears up any confusion.

Q Boy or Girl, which is correct?

I think we all know the answer, and secretly so does mama nature. 😆

    Binners that’s a bun not a cake.
If it’s dominated by breadiness it cannot possibly be a cake.
HOWEVER, semantics aside that looks like a respectable lunch.

I’m once again going to stick up for the puff pastry. I can take or leave the pie wrapped in pastry, I tend to find that most pastry on pies just doesn’t do it for me. I do like a puff pastry top. I still want thick gravy though…

I remember when a lunch such as binners kindly shares ^above^ would have refuelled me of a Saturday lunchtime ahead of my pilgrimage to the bright lights. However these days it would have be writhing with indigestion within 2 hours of eating.

Pies are indeed a rare treat, the pie barm just a happy memory.

Down here in the south of France pies don’t exist which is one of the main reasons further European integration should be firmly resisted.

I beg to differ, sir. Madames et Messieurs, je vous presente le petit paté de Pezenas. Small, but definately a pie.

And it’s not too distant neighbour, la tielle Setoise (garnish optional)

I feel cheated , been living here for 8 years and all this time those damn Frenchies have been hiding these lovely looking pies from me.
I think a nation wide general strike is in order, maybe some sheep burning.

I once had someone try to tell my a pudding was pie. Now I love suet puddings, but it is not a pie. Education these days.

P.S. Stoner is wrong. Best Pie, short crust, full casing. From a southerner, Hampshire / Dorset border
