Presuming it is still closed that is. Any ideas.?
it is still closed and wont be reopened so i've heard
some locals posted a while back said summer this year apparently.

I'm pretty sure that the i heard that the Penhydd trail as it was won't re-open but the area of land it covered was having new trails built on it and likely to open some time this year.
The Forestry are still doing a lot of felling on the Penhydd side of the Afan Valley, whether this still part of the effort to get rid of the nasty disease the Japanese Larch had, or just routine work I don't know.
Bazz is correct - the whole trail as it was is gone and will be rebuilt but I don't know if they've even started yet.

Also, we will be rebuilding the Penhydd trail and it will open as a new and improved route
Woohoo!
Cheers all.
