I've got some old DX spd's (the red ones with the platform). I've tried flats and whilst I like em for DH type stuff and dirt jumping I prefer SPD's for general riding. Anybody found a good spd shoe that will work both clipped and unclipped with a decent amount of grip? I know I can't expect the same level of grip as my flats with my sticky soles but anything out there that works ok?

The reason for this dilemma is I find XC type stuff a nightmare on flats. I can dirt jump and ride DH on flats without panic but as soon as I get on a XC trail with drops (even small ones) I just cant keep my feet on the pedals and I have no confidence (2 and 3 foot drops not a problem with spuds either). I've ridden with spds since the mid 90's and have no problem. I've been riding flats on my xc rides since the start of the year and my confidence is slipping.
