    Hi all,

I’ve been looking around for a lightweight packable emergency rain jacket with a hood.
It’s for general outdoor duty so walking, cycling etc

The minimus jacket by montane looks to be the best option at the moment unless you guys can suggest anything else that’s better, cheaper ( but as good )

No idea how it compares with the Montane, but I’ve just got a Rab Alpine which packs pretty small and although sold as a “wind shield” it has good water resistance and for me is ideal for energency “in your pack” use.
Haven’t used for cycling though, just walking.

I already have a RAB vapour rise lite so the alpine is too similar.
The packable part is really important 🙂

Here you go, it might take a month or two to arrive though!

Mine packs down to about the size of a tennis ball.

The Minimus is good, I have owned one for a couple of years.

Not sure what the RRP is now but bought mine on sale.

Any idea how small the RAB Atmos packs down to?
I can’t find any pics online

Had the minimus a couple of yrs now. Great jacket totally waterproof, even in all day rain in Keswick in Feb.
Packs down in its own pouch size of an apple. Used on the bike and for walking. + lots from me

I’ve ordered a few jackets in the past week.
The rab atmos doesn’t pack down small enough so that went back.
The montane minimus mountain also doesn’t pack down small enough so I’m now going to buy the rab kinetic , rab pulse and the montane minimus.

One of these three will be a keeper 🙂
