Oooh, parallel parking in Westminster’d be great fun with that! As would the look on the face of the guy at the petrol station as you pay your £500 for a fill-up…

It looks rather simular to the car 1.20min into this clip.

…… taking advantage of modern petrol injection and electronic ignition

    Oh dear.

to ensure that the engine operates properly under differing throttle and road conditions.

Hardly a good enough reason imo. How did they manage in the 1930s ?

you think it was reliable in the 30s?

The roads weren’t as busy so cars wandering around five minutes after the throttle has been cut wouldn’t be ploughing into children’s faces.

If modern reliability was a serious issue/need then a modern car is the obvious answer. I wouldn’t put seat belts in it either, as another example.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I can also understand that having a car like that which would start first time every time* (leaving the rest authentic) would be very appealing

Well I think old cars which crank continuously until they slow right down, before firing up accompanied with a few obligatory misfires, is very appealing. And several failed attempts before finally bursting into life always adds to the excitement value imo 🙂
