Thinking of getting the new shape Galaxy 06/07 a couple of year oldish.
Any one own one and what are they like. Are you happy with it or had any problems.

What should I look out for if anything.

    Would you recomend or not.

It's the same 2.0 tdci engine that goes in lots of fords. Look out for flywheel problems, check for a noisy rumble on cold start up. Also put your hand on the clutch gently til it reaches the biting point in neutral and see if you can detect an even pulsing/vibration through this. Apart from this injectors can be a problem so look for lots of smoke, difficulty cold starting and a lack of power. If the glow plug light flashes walk away as this tends to be much more serious than just the glow plugs needing changing.

I think the engines in the latest Galaxy (Mondeo/SMax) are the same block as the older TDCi units, but belt driven (instead of chain) & use an over-boost thing. Not sure of they cured the DMF & injectors of the older ones, guess they are still a bit young to tell.

2.0 unit in latest model Galaxy is not related to the old nail used in Mk 3 Mondeo and Transit, you shouldn`t have any real trouble with flywheel or injectors. The 1.8 engine is known for an appetite for flywheels so 2.0 diesel is the one to go for.
