6 bikes shops have closed in 15 years in our area... 3 of them good.. customer service counts for **** all it seem these days.
Me and my family shop local as much as we can... but we are being pushed more to the Internet due to lack of choice and availability. The wife has had to travel 25 miles or more to get shoes for the kids to get correct fitting and quality, 3 or 4 times.
and we live in 45,000 plus town. We have lived on £18,000ish a year for the last 5 years, in a 2 up 2 down and with three young boys... and supporting our growing business. But we never buy cheap quality because we know it's false economics.
Inflation has been so low for the last 15 years... The price snap back to reality is a shock for everyone! Just Look what people where prepared to pay for parts in the 80'S.... and on much lower income! Better quality products you see...
Chain of supply offers a more stable market.... If everyone went down the road of SSC ... = no more bike shops. Surly everyone is a winner if product is sold on quality .. rather than assumed good quality product by get rich quick flash in the pan outfits??
Trying to cover such a large customer base, generated by your low prices with such a small organisation ... leads to poor quality of service. That's why we have distributors!
It seems the public are still being conned... Throw away products being sold to people that can't afford to throw them away. I buy right, buy once. If I can't afford it ..I wait till a can.
If this is the new world order ..then we are doomed.
SSC are a more worrying element to the equation... A quality manufacturer should never let their products be sold this way... it's too short term... that's why SSC has had to use his own brand name and sell pads made by Baradine.
