    oh yes, and moving to the calder valley means you will soon know someone who works at Orange and will be looking to buy one cheap. Mother-in-law lives in same block of apartments as Steve Wade’s mum. There’s my connection!

    a good intro to a lung buster is to leave the park at the train station end, head up past wood top, then climb the cobbled Spencer Lane (runs alongside a steep field previously used as a downhill track!) then straight up to Stoodley Pike via Jonny Gap. I don’t think there are many routes where you gain such altitude in such a short burst.

    Done that in reverse rockhopper. Really slowly, desperately looking for a trail off that cobbled road. That’s a waste of a steep hill.
