Was it worth the push up?

at the time I regretted going up the way we did (Dollywaggon), but now I look at the pics I’m glad I went 🙂 In future the only ways I’m willing to take my bike up will be Sticks East or Matterdale, which are bearable.

What on earth possessed you to go up Dollywagon with a bike though?

Me and mmy mate went up glenridding common and down dollywagon and I fully reccomend it, fantastic downhill. Dollywagon steps are very scary and not 100% rideable, massive adrenaline rush tho, but the bit after Grisedale tarn is technical-tastic, bloody brilliant. And it takes a ridiculous amount of time to cover 12miles.

We saw quite a few bikers pushing up to grisedale tarn, I presume they were going up DW, dunno tho.

Nahh, mountains are old hat. What you need is something that can vary it’s own height as and when it feels like. Like A volcano, say Mt Etna, does….

Yeah, you’re right, that’s lava on the side
    😀

To be honest, Dollywagon would be a push for me in either drection. However, going up it does rule out the Downhill valley route of Grizedale.

For me Hellvellyn is a bit like Snowdon. One to tick a box more than to enjoy as a ride.

Much prefer to walk the Catstycam, swirral, summit, striding edge route than struggle up with a bike.

Dollywagon is a great descent, I would not want to push up that way though!

Simon, got anymore pics up yet?

I’ve worked through my pics as far as the summit so I’m about 2/3rds of the way. Hopefully I’ll post them this evening.
