Got a few days to explore Vancouver. Any suggestions of some decent bars, 30 something, not on the pull, electronic music.

Assuming you are in Vancouver as opposed to the out-lying ‘burbs…

Plenty of nightlife along Granville St south of Robson St in the downtown area.
Also try the Gastown area…Alibi Bar if you appreciate good beer.
Steamworks and the Rogue near Waterfront (Seabus/Skytrain terminus)
A few decent bars around Helmcken St/Hamilton St area in Yaletown.

Depends where you’re staying and how far you’re prepared to travel I guess

If you’re not in the city you’ll find it’s almost Prohibition dry.

Beware the price of beer. Particularly in Steamworks!
I seem to remember $8 for a beer smaller than a pint and a tip on top.

Granville Island is good during the day – nice market and food.
Steamworks is a good spot for proper beer (and decent food).

Railway club was pretty good with live bands and decent beer and food.

    its 2 years since I’ve been tho…

I used to go here in Gastown when I lived in Vancouver on a gap year 15 years ago. Apparently voted no 1 place to get wasted on the cheap by Vice magazine!

Used to have ‘Party Here Tonite’ painted on the wall outside. I remember seeing it in Jackie Chan’s Rumble In The Bronx. 🙂
