My mate has been given a place in a local sportive and wants someone to ride with – Asked me and I said yes but enteries are now closed and max number have been met. I thought I could ride with him but not start with the main bunch (wait outside) and then join him. On the food stops I can fill up with water and bring my own food? Does this sound reasonable?

I’d say yeah a bit cheeky. If it’s local can you not turn up on the day and see if there are any no-shows?

You’re riding on public roads so I’d say no it’s not cheeky. If it bothers you then give the entry fee to a charity of their choice.

Well they make a big profit most of which goes to charity or the club every year i.e. £35 x2500 riders so Its not so much the money side of it? but yeh I could make a donation to their charity (s) 🙂
