Or are they shimmed different for high/low compression?

yes, only difference is the pedal setting missing from the RC

They use a different rebound piston assembly.

yeah if you look at the service manual it shows the difference, as above different damping unit. Therefoer I suspect there will be some difference between them in use

Just took mine apart to reduce the travel, amazing how little oil there is in the lower leg damping side, none came out at all, 7ml came out the other side, guess there are maybe a few ml sitting in the leg still but will be making sure I get all 5ml in the damping side. Don’t think these are going to tolerate long service intervals!
