Anyone else get a great sense of satisfaction from assembling a bike from stuff either lying around or used from ebay and sourcing from STW classifieds, etc?

    Winter SS required….

New £30 Ridgeback Storm frame, fork and headset from Bikedock.
Old (2001)-ish Sid XC 80mm OE forks which were in the garage – but little used and in perfect condition…who cares.
Front Pro2 hub wheel off STW classifieds.
Front Hope mini and rotor off STW classifieds.
Various other bits and pieces from the garage.

Reckon the total current purchase price to build was under £150. Ok, if I had to directly buy bits and pieces which were not lying around the garage it would be more – understand this self rationalising logic is flawed, but….

What a fun, light little bike for our Weds evening route. Couple of bits I need to man up due to 32:14 ratio, but enjoyed a bit of old-school carrying up some hills my mates who had 27 speed and granny rings rode up.

I did try it fully rigid and v’d, but I’m not old school enough for that.

Love it and want to see photos!

I was going to try and build a whole bike for the same budget, something i can leave in town etc…

Tell me about the frame, is it light? can you remove the stickers?
