  • House/Bike Insurance – any reason not to use M&S?

Just done a quote on M&S and they'll not only cover the house to the level we want but also my bikes plus the wifes' horsey gear (home and away) – for no more than my usual company charges just for the house.

Also did a quote for just my bike on a specialist site and they wanted over £400pa!

Any (good) reason to not use them – anyone else with them?

No, they can't be beaten 🙂

Thanks for the tip about the horsey stuff, it hadn't really crossed my mind that all my gf's gear at the stables should be covered 🙂

no reason at all and, having just made a claim for my rather wet laptop, I'd say they handle claims really well!

Yes, by the time you add in a couple (or three) decent saddles, assorted bridle's, clothing, riding boots for every occasion (I know, I know – pot, kettle, black) and all the other paraphanalia there must be over £5k – and thats just the stuff I know about…

I thought I spent a lot of money on bike stuff till the wife got a horse. I believe she feeds it five pound notes and it sleeps on a bed of my socks (they have to be somewhere).

Another recommendation for MandS here. They were really quick when my wife's bike was stolen from her work. It probably helped that she tends to keep receipts for everything and sent them a very detailed list of all the parts. After about a week we had an offer from them that was more than we were expecting and they were quite happy to just send a cheque.

One thing to be careful of is that when it comes to renew they wont necessarily send you the cheapest price. Go back on to their website and get a quote that way, as it's often cheaper. That's true of a lot of insurance companies these days, just saved over £100 on my car insurance doing this with Aviva.
