The kids have started to show an interest in climbing. Then it occurred to me that we have a nice uninterrupted stretch of wall down the side path between our garage and next doors. Thought about finding a few grips on eBay.

    Couple of qs:

1: should my single-skin garage wall (engineering brick) take the load?
2: should I be worried that the side path is only about 1m from next doors garage – if the kids came off our wall in a major way I.e. falling outwards rather than downwards, they’d be hitting next doors wall. I’m talking bouldering height rather than anything over 1-1.5m.

Anyone done similar for selves / kids?

Strength wise the brick wall be fine, could you put some kind of padding down the wall to help?

    Have a full cave.
Set up in the garage eaves though.
Have built numerous over the years and the wall will be fine as long as you use the right fixings.
You need to decide if it’s individual threaded sockets or ply sheets with T-nuts first
