  • Headset problem – FSA PIG DH Pro deep cup stainless steel

    The saga continues.

My kindly local expert LBS installed the cups today – they are 22mm deep so needed the pro touch. All good. They also seated the crown race on the forks.

So it seemed like it was going to be an easy job to put the parts together.

The problem is that when I come to tighten the top cap, the part that should act as a ‘cover’ over the top bearing race, doesn’t sit onto the upper cup.

This seems to be because the spacer ‘ring’ that goes on top of the upper bearing is too tall – or doesn’t bed down properly onto the bearings.

Does anyone else have this headset and a solution. Currently the headset locks solid and there is no snug fit between the upper cup and the ‘cover’.

It’s hard to explain in words!

If you recognise thsi issue, please post a solution or else drop me your number to the e:mail in my profile and I’d love to give you a call to discuss!
