    hi all,

i have a garmin etrek 20e and seem to have problems loading files on to it, so go on, others don’t

any ideas? I assumed that GPX was a standard but are some good and some bad for the garmin?

    thanks

GPX is a standard, but not all software/devices follows the standard properly. A lot of software produces files that are not quite valid, and some Garmins can be fussy about this.
Also depends on what is in the GPX file. eg waypoints, routes or tracks, which are used differently on the Etrex. And there may be limits on the number of points etc.

You could try using Garmin BaseCamp to load the GPX onto the Etrex. It should make sure it is the correct format, and saved in the correct place.

How are you creating the gpx files? Some garmins are fussy about the number of waypoints.

Try importing it into bikehike.co.uk and exporting it as a track rather than a route.

Is another way you can strip out all the unecessary fluff and be left with a small but still accurate gpx file.
