Tried Animator DV+ (complicated) and StopMojo (Can’t use USB camera) without success and wondered if anyone knew of an easy app they could get on & use? Just want to do a bit of lego animation.. Preferably with onbion-skin mode..

Any recommendations?

Don’t know if this is quite what you need, but me and my lad used Picasa to make this of our build of an Old Trafford kit!

We put the camera on a tripod, and used a remote release for each shot. We put a piece on the model, lined it up with the right knots on the table, click, repeat…

Picasa can then stitch the photos as a video.

You could probably use a camera phone and a timelapse app.

Thanks all – have been using a camera but wanted something with a few extra features.. will keep looking & report back if I find anything.

JellyCam v5 is looking good so far – dead simple although it only creates .flv video files..

I’ve done a few bits of stop-motion with Lego. Really should do some more.
I used a camera, tripod and a remote shutter release to keep everything in the same place. The most difficult bit is keeping your hands out of shot.
Then all the images onto a computer and used QuickTime to convert it to a video. Then play around with it in iMovie. I’m sure there must be a better way to do it, but it works.

It was a few years ago, but I did the Windows version of what Megatron did. Stills with a camera,then import into Windows Movie Maker. I think you can set how long to display each image.

For mac there is a wee app called istopmotion which does all the converting stuff for you and produces a movie file.

(Take more than 1 frame to help with edits)

Thanks both – on balance I found the Jellycam software best, no doubt the Aardman app will be great but it’s limited to 240 frames which is nothing at all when you get going!

I can animate isn’t free, but I love it. We use it in school, think they do a free trial but it makes lies of little editing bits easy, easy green screening so your planes can really fly in the sky etc. Think it’s able 30 quid, or was when I last bought it…
