I know there’s other social networking apps out there that the kids use (I’m looking at you Snapchat), but Facebook aiming an app directly at the kids boils my wee:

Is it really/ are they really doing anything different than Snapchat and other kid targeted Apps do.
Kik and all the kiddy porn ones the kids use already don’t seem to get much attention, yet when FB develop a messaging App that’s controlled by the Parents of the Child all hell breaks loose.

Meanwhile in the real world 11 year olds walk to the bus stop, cross roads, take the bus to school, boil kettles and chop onions. And all have FB, Snapchat, Whatsapp etc. They have 7 years to learn how to become responsible adults. That involves taking more serious decisions than what to say on FB. FB are behaving responsibly but the full fat app is fine if used correctly.

So it’s a messenger service a bit like mobile devices have anyway.
