I did one around North Leeds a while ago, wasn't bad. We did the longest route, 35ish miles. It was very xc and I thought a good way to learn more routes and trails in the area. The setup was good, people friendly, I would do another.

Have done the Woking one twice. Medium route on my own last time and long route with wife this year.

Well organised xc pootle around the countryside. Restricted to roads and bridleways though so nothing more difficult than a couple of very short hills. Biggest thing for me was it gave us a nice 25 mile loop that we now do every few weeks that starts from just outside our house and can be done in a little over 2 hours.

High5 freebies are good, especially if you sign up early.

The others may be different but I'd not travel to one unless I knew it was going to be a tougher route.

Thats the thing my mate lives down in Luton and I'm up in Staffordshire, it's along way to go if it's not going to be an epic achievement. So might give it a miss then, theres one in chase the following week, could do that one if I feel like it.

I did the one at the chase a couple of years back. It was OK I guess. I wouldn't bother again though.

Check out the difficulty level. I think the Woking one was tame on their scale - that may just be about climbing though.

It's never going to be a technical even though

This.

It was ok, I suppose it depends what the area was like. Most of the chase route was either very tame single track or fire roads. I did the long route and was knackered by the end of it. Just slog up and fly down all day.

They're ok.
I did a couple a few years ago, mainly to ride somewhere new, when there was no-one to show me about for free.I still do the odd trailbreak ones.

Treat them like off road sportive's - it's always going to be about doing distance on legal trails not flying along cheeky singletrack.

There's a sense of achievement for completing them and the convenience of signposts and feed stations is worth it for some.

I did the Crawley one a few years ago, did the short route with my GF as we picked up her first MTB from Evans the same day. I thought it was fine, a nice easy way to do a ride somewhere you don't know. I'd do another if it was somewhere I fancied.
