    Hello,

I bought one of those DB SS 29ers off ebay, and have just set it up. It's got a sprung tensioner pushing down, but the chain skips if I pedal standing up or under power.

The chain seems quite long (jockey wheel is roughly where a derailleur would be), so would taking a few links out cure this?

If so, how tight should the chain be – will it make much difference to getting the wheel out?

    Thanks

The chain should be as tight as possible (but not ridiculously so) without making it impossible to remove the wheel. I think that about right is when you can move it up/down about 1cm.

It sounds like you could take a few links out. To further trim it down you might benefit from a half link to get it just right.

Cheers Tom, I thought that might be it – chain seems pretty long.
