    A bit tougher, a bit wider and much more suitable for a trail bike running tyres above 2.0 imo.
    still find it quite strange that orange spec the 317 on the five given the tyres it comes with.

    Different alloy as well iirc. The 3 series are the cheaper ones eg xm317, en321. The last 2 numbers refer to the width.

    Aren’t 317s pinned, and 719s welded? You can do a compare thing on Mavics website.

    As i understand it from chatting to the Mavic guys at Fortwilliam DH…..
    The first number ie 3 or 7 indicates how far up the range they are 1 being low (think OE 117 rims) and 9 being high. The second 2 numbers are rim width, in this case 17 and 19mm.
