I did the measuring last night but thought I'd post this morning for the increased chance of replies. I did think this morning that I would have liked to check once more.
I can't read, or count, or add up.
There I said it.
To get the excuses out of the way, I'm blaming him:
It never fails to surprise me how persistent some assumptions can be the face of visual evidence to the contrary. I knew it would be a bit more than 10cms, I read "12" and added that up to 112. There were even 2 little check markers to show that the last digit was a 2.
I did this LOADS of times. (while drinking rum and watching Sherlock, admittedly)
At no point, until I got back this evening and had another look, did I challenge the assumption that the the big "12" and the other 2 markers might not mean 112.
