What? Makes no sense – the diagrams don’t show you the cranks or where they are when “locked”

Straight line downhill speeds that will blow your mind.

Strange thing to claim from something that’s designed to increase cornering speed ?

    Front page , first paragraph

    Im out

” the design flaw of a bicycle is that to go forwards your pedals must be rotating our locking crank system allows you to ride your bike like a motorcyclist”

House ( bullshit bingo) would be called on that website quickly

They also make a Barlock for insane straight line speeds.

It’s crackers says Raymond Pettifer (2nd in the World at text chess).

This explains it some what better

The website is junk but to me the idea poses an intresting question about why we corner in the way that we do

    Makes perfect sense to me.

But then, unlike the herd on here I am open minded and experienced enough to realise that skills coaches teaching punters to always drop their outside foot while cornering is just plain wrong.

Motorcycles and bicycles are very similar from a dynamic point of view –

No they’re not. The relative difference in mass of a bicycle to a motorbike means that the center of gravity of a bicycle is much higher (around the navel of the rider) so cornering dynamics will be very very different.

Besides if you look at the photos and videos they all have the rider weight on the OUTSIDE pedal something that can be easily achieved with normal cranks.

I don’t understand? Is its purpose so you can weight your inside pedal? Well you can do that without locking the crank by balancing pressure through both pedals?

    Have I missed something obvious?

imagine the fun when this thing starts engaging randomly say.. during a race. or pedalling granny up a short steep hill. it’s like a “push to fall off” button.

What they seem to be able to do is lock the crank with one foot leading. They can then choose how much weight to put on each foot. I wonder if this helps you tune front rear weight distribution

NB on a normal bike with cranks level, whilst not pedalling, you have to have the same weight on each foot

oh yeah. it’s def. interesting. but yet another knob to think about? let’s lower my post, adjust my shocks, and lock my cranks, and remember they’re locked, and of course gears. 😯 i guess if you’re the kind of person who can really use this, you’re probably co-ordinated enough to cope with it.
