    Howdy all,

I have the following 2x10sp setup on my Tripster (V1)

    SRAM DoubleTap S700 Hydros.
SRAM Rival Rr Mech, 12-27 casette, Shimano 105 36/50.

I use it for London commutes (28mm Schwalbe Marathon on road/canal) and never change out of the 50t ring.

I’ve run all previous bikes as 1x at some point.

So – it seems I have lots of options, and thought input may be useful – can’t see the wood for the trees.

    1 – Leave as is.
    2 – Remove unused mech/ring, adjust chainline.
3 – As above, but add thick/thin type 50t ring and/or SRAM clutch mech (SRAM MTB will work too).
4 – Accept offer of very very cheap 1×11 Apex1 groupset with hydros (11-42/42t), and sell all my current bits.
5 – Build my own 1×10 by playing around with cassette/ring ratios.

    Any thoughts from the masses?

Apex1 seems comparable in weight etc, and I do like the idea of a rear brake without unused shifter parts in it.

But I’m still getting my head round the real-world implications of a change in gearing – 12-27/50 compared to 11-42/42.

You can take the shifter off the brake lever and “convert” to just a brake lever rather than replacing it. I know as I had to do it when I accidentally ordered a cable rather than hydro 1x left hand lever…
