If I’m suppose to put 30ml of oil in each leg when I service and I decide to put more in or less in, what will happen to the ride characteristics?

(It’s a fox float 140 factory RLC FIT about 18 months old).

    Thanks guys

Ramp up more with more oil.

Nothing. It’s just to keep the bushes lubed. It doesn’t control damping.

If you put too much in then more pressure will build up when they’re compressed. They’ll feel more progressive and the wiper seals might even be blown out.

If you put too little in then there’ll just be less oil in so they won’t be as lubricated, so they’ll need doing again sooner and if you put far too little in then you’ll wear the stanchions and bushings quicker.

As in just loose in the bottom of each leg? Onzadog is right.
As in inside the wee cartridge thingy inside each leg wysiwyg is right.
    .
Assuming the top one, less means it will need servcing again sooner. More, not really an issue unless you put a huge amount in.

What’ll happen on some forks is that oil will be forced into the air spring, reducing travel and spoiling your day.

If in the lowers, not the internals, then this

Nothing. It’s just to keep the bushes lubed. It doesn’t control damping.

a bit more wouldn’t be the end of the world if you don’t go daft, but not much less, as it needs to cover everything.

Don’t vary the volumes in the internals. Them’s important.
