    It was muddy, it was very slippery in places and if I had to ride though the bog at the bottom of the zig-zags and then climb up that muddy rocky muddy hill one more time, I think I would have cried.

    Brilliant day. The weather worked out perfectly, making the trail more of a challenge and giving you more to think about. Saw a few crashes and lots of trackside fixing – the mud was really taking it’s toll on some bikes.

    One weird thing though was the amount of people cleaning their bikes by the toilet block, part way through the day. Properly scrubbing with a brush and everything. I was chatting to a few and they had more laps to go. Very odd.

    I know how you feel, that sucky mud was hell (and it only got worse). On the upside I only had one puncture, but I did break my pump fixing it, so thank you to the chap who lent my his pump so I could finish that lap.
