After a cx style bike for my son. He’s 5’6″ and growing well but not a hugely confident rider. So I don’t want a frame that feels too unwieldy but likewise need some room for growth. What size should I be looking at, and any 2nd hand good recommendations to look out for. Thanks

my eldest son is similar age and 5ft 4. He is on a Small Defy for road duties and a 15 inch Cube Acid HT off road.

Likely that any Small sized cx bike would be close fit, so a 50/52 measurement.

    He’ll be on a medium by time he’s 5ft 9 though….

Worth a look at the Pauls/Winstanley/Wheelies online places for 2016 ones, especially for the smaller sizes as they tend not to sell out so fast. I got junior’s 2015 Defy from Wheelies last October for half price….
