    Guys,
I was on the look out for a new bike for a bit of fun and i have found a fully re-bearing'd/bushed 2004 specialised enduro expert frame.

It is bought from a reliable source from a long term member on another forum i frequent so im confident its as it is described. So frame sorted.

It is frame, rear shocker and seatpost clamp.

    Now i need everything else!

The choice of components is more than bewildering. Ther is something out there for every budget and level of abuse!

I as this is new to me i dont want to go sending £300 on a crankset or anything like that.

Im up for buying second hand if they are in good condition, or should i buy new but cheaper crankset, cassette, derailleur to ensure that all componets have the same amount of wear / are all matched?

As for bottom brackets the new spes on the bike was a shimano es30 121/68 (50) now i cant seem to find these, they look to be out os ftock in all places or discontinued. Will other bottom brackets fit? such as this Clicky

What does the (50mm) denote, is it an offset or something?

Buying the individual components is easy bus can anyone provide some info on the specifics as to what will fit with each other so that i cont go buying one bit from forum member x and another from member y to find out the are not compatable!

If you have any parts you want shot of and will fit then feel free to let me know.

    Many thanks.

If it was me, I would look at brand new deore drivetrain, crankset, and cassette, the crankset will come with the BB so thats sorted, if your feeling flush and SLX crankset is a good bet, also I would try and aim at SLX mechs too, bewildering choice of chains but you wont go wrong with a shimano or KMC, OR Sram just pick the one you fancy..

Deore shifter pods do the job and can be had off here for about £20 as opposed to about £50 new, loads of people upgrade this sort of thing so if you can find some that have not done loads of work your onto a winner.

Always lots of wheels, forks etc would suit your bike going through the classifieds here, and lots of hydro brakes too, and their is your expensive bits, and its kinda down to a bit of luck and your finances.

You need to do your research to make sure stuff like wheels and forks suit each other, even down to the brake types so you can avoid buying extra adaptors, or discs etc you hadnt budgeted for.

I built something very similar recently, and manged to come in just below £450 all in, but I got lucky as the frame I bought had a newish crankset in it.

If in doubt on compatability, ask on here, you will get a fast and usually accurate response.

ps check out On One, they did have some stock of tyres at £10 a pop, that arent bad.

Stuff like the seatpost is a specific size to Specialized (almost), but loads of people upgrade seatposts a wanted add should bag you a std fitment seatpost.. I forget what diameter they are now..

seatpost is 30.9 is it not? buy the deore gear kit off merlin for £60 – shifters/front and rear mech. £55 gets you the cranks form there too. Ea50 seatpost/stem/bars from merlin also
