I have a friend who is wanting to go to the UK next year to do a Civil Engineering Course.
He’s quite a good roadie, and would love to carry on cycling whilst there.
I suggested Sheffield, any other suggestions?

    Cheers.

Anywhere. Roads are quite common here in the UK.

Sheffield is a good shout, Cardiff too. Have a look on BUCS at the road cycling tables too see who has the strongest/busiest club

Sheffield was my first thought. Though Nottingham University clearly caters for all cycling abilities, given how spread out they were last week when they went through our village!

Loughborough University, very big and active cycling club across a range of disciplines, primarily road and always high in the inter university cycling competitions and one of the main competitors. Also good Civil Engineering department and some of the best spots facilities you could hope for anywhere in the world.

Hi , does it have to be the UK ? Chalmers in Gothenburg is pretty well know for its engineering courses, its taughr in English and i i think as an EU resdifent you have to pay. Apart from the savage winter the road and mountain biking is superb . Empty roads like in all those car ads.

No idea about the uni clubs but…

Cambridge has the strongest team by BUCS points, but the cycling is flat and boring. We do general engineering until third year, which is arguably better than specialising immediately. Website.

I would pick the best university I was able to get into and find the best way to work riding in afterwards. If the uni club is crap, join the local roadies
