    The Bagdhad Club.

But don't sit in the front row.

    Or take your kids.

    La Sagrada Familia

Or this if you are on a Gaudi trip.

Park Guell for a quieter time. The Latin Quarter is also nice as well as the old cathedral (but don't drink the holy water as a friend of mine did when she got all spiritual in there and ended up throwing her guts up for the next three days). La Rambla for the shops and cafes. That should keep you busy for an hour or two.

It's the obvious tourist thing to do but the Sagrada Familia is amazing, as is some of the other Gaudi stuff dotted around.

Sorry I meant the Gothic Quarter too 😳
I was last in Barcelona in the month of September when they 'celebrate' Catalonia National day. I say celebrate but it's more like a full on street battle down La Rambla with the police complete with people torching cars and bins and anything else they can find to burn. I had a ring side seat in a cafe balcony on the first floor to watch all the action in a comfy chair with a caffe late.

Lucky man, we were there for 4 days the other week, wish I was still there….

    Eat here…..

very, very good tapas and central to boot……

recommended to us by a local,
not the cheapest (in tapas terms) and you may well have to wait for a table (especially between 2 and 4pm) but the food really is fantastic – all fresh made even the tortilla de patatas (spanish omelette) which are cooked to order… great selection of imported beers though I stayed on the local stuff…
Think we spent about 35 notes on 'lunch' – incl 2 beers, half a bottle of cheap fizz and a mighty fine selection of tapas.

Looking cheaper – then venture two or three streets off the tourist track and try the little 'coffee' shops that the locals use – rustic but great!

What to see – depends on just how much time you have….
If time is limited (sounds like it might be) i'd suggest simply mooching around, soaking up the atmosphere – several famous landmarks are none to far away from the above eatery, all viewable from outside, for example…

One thing to do – avoid the ramblas – you really will not be missing much…..

and finally – the pickpockets – apparently they are rife – common sense rules…….

    Enjoy…..

edit – had plaanned to mention the highlight of our trip – La Sagrada Famillia – as it is stunning, however, queues to get in and the time needed to try and appreciate just a bit of it would, I'd say, take this off your list for this trip – just my 2 cents worth

Make sure you visually ID prices on some places. We ate at a restaurant that had the food prices up but not the beer. Paid 8euros per pint. I even asked the Waiter then his boss if they were running a stripbar. Waiter laughed, Manager looked upset.

Cheers all, I'll take a look round the Gothic stuff! I think I'll leave the Bahgdad club as there's no cat in my expenses form for that type of thingLOL

A really good place to eat is the Tapas Picatao in the Sant Just region of Barca, it's on the Carrer de la crue / Carrer del nord intersection north of Barcalona. Google it of you need directions.

I'm off there with the wife for 5 days tomorrow to visit friends 😀

It's also Baraca vs Man City tomorrow too (VIP Tickets waiting!).

    Have a good trip!
