I’m a bit fed up of the ammount of lever travel my Juicy 3’s go through before they get to the bite point – even after a bleed and pad change, I have to wind the reach out a fair bit to keep the levers away from the bar. I’ve found the Juicys to be plenty powerful but they do tend to grab a bit too.

With this in mind, I was considering the Elixir 5s as a replacement – are they any improvement on this or is the high ammount of lever travel something particular to Avid brakes?

Any other brakes in that price range that would be worth a look?

    cheers

I have the same problem with my Juicy 5s so possibly an avid thing?

My elixir 5s lasted 6 months before going down the beyond economical repair route.

ok – maybe I’ll have a rethink, would have liked to stick with Avid as I already have the bleed kit but sounds like it might be worth looking elsewhere.
