Is the chainline OK? The chainrings don't foul the chainstays?

won't both be designed within industry standards?

The Cotic Soul.

Im lead to believe its probably the best hardtail frame ever produced.

I doubt its been designed so that chainrings foul the chainstays.

Funny think is David, Cotic said SRAM may be a better fit. Or did you think I was asking just to exercise my fingers?

I used to ride a Soul with SLX double, worked a charm.

"However, the Soul is designed for chainsets with a 50mm chainline and the Shimano 2x10 systems have a 48mm chainline and larger inner rings so may not clear the chainstays. Srams double chainset has a 50mm chainline and will work with your Soul frame."

Hence, I want to hear from someone who has done it.

I have a Truvativ (SRAM) crankset but the rings are worn out now and either impossible to replace or ****ing expensive. Since I need a BB too it may just be cheaper to switch to Shimano and be done.

I'm running XT 2x10. It is close'ish to the inner ring, say 5mm as you'll see from the pic. Despite the helitape being picked up slightly I've not had any problems though.

I'm not far (other end of Surrey Hills) and would like to ride over that way sometime, may do. Tooth count would be handy tho.

just put a raceface one on my new one MK3, and checked it on my old one Mk2, both cleared, new one by quite a bit. The race face is a 50mm chainline same as Shimnao I think.

I'm running 28/40 BTW

I think i saw somewhere Shimano are 48.8mm but can't find it now.

Hmmm RaceFace, I have the SixC bars and lov'em. But having already been stung on buying a 'niche' brand I may stick with big S.

What the...... I wouldn't have expected that kind of lazy / cheap arse advice from a company like Cotic!

XTR a bit pricey for me. What RaceFace are you running?

That's not really fair.

The Soul design was out before the modern 2 ring set ups. They have altered it now on the latest design.

I am liking thos Race Face carbon cranks. Like the rubber end cover to protect against ground strikes.

For the record, XT double M785 26/38 went on sweet and has done a 90 minute ride with no problems.
