Looking for a cheapish light hardtail frame to build up rigid or with 100m forks. Likely to be my only bike, so not a full on race bike, just something lighter, quicker and less travel than my 456.
    Budget £200 ish

    Cheers

Maxlight XC or Wiggle have the XC Pro 2 for £270 at the moment.
Or Merlin Malt 2,4 or RL Tig Team?
    Why not the Scandal?

BeOne Karma frames (6061) are on sale at £120 (down from £250) at CRC if you want a bargin.

But the Scandal is hard to beat for VFM IMO.

Nothing against the scandal, in fact i'll probably get one, just exploring the alternatives as i've had an on one for a few years and fancied a change.
Really fancy the pink scandals, but not sure if 3 years down the line i'll be fed up looking at it.

    Highly recommended:

£270 is a great price too, if you can stretch your budget a bit…

Someones nicked your pedals. Is that a reba on it? What travel works? Stem length? Weight? Cheers

    RT,

Reba SLs at the moment which are pretty basic, but work fine. 100mm travel. Stem is 90mm which gives pretty confident handling.

Weight about 24lbs (with pedals!), I'd guess. Could easily be made a pound or two lighter with SIDs, Stans Olympic wheels etc.

How skittish is something that light downhill? Probably not too bad with my 13 odd stone bouncing about on it.

How about just a bit of controversy instead?
