If we're wandering off the beaten track then it's time for a bit of hair metal. Love this bands first album - still listen to it 20+ years later. Saw them supporting Guns n Roses at Rock City in Nottinghem - best gig I've ever been to.

No New Model Army, although they were a vey local band and I saw them in concert at a local benefit gig (miners or something), I wouldn't say they were majorly significant in my youth.
