I currently have a 2010 2 x 9 speed Shimano XT Crankset with an E13 Bashguard and want to swap it out to a 36t single Chainring up front with a 10 speed Cassette and 10 speed rear Derailleur - Can I use my existing Crank or do i have to buy a 10 Speed compatible crankset? Head wrecker!! -
Help!!!
Buy/borrow a 10 speed chain and if it runs on your 9 spd crank/ring, then yes. I'll bet it does.
It'll be fine.
It'll be fine, cranks arent 9/10 speed (or even 5/6/7 speed) and rings are 9/10 speed cross compatible anyway.
If your going to run the single ring with a chain device that has a back plate then you will have to file down the bolt lugs on the back of the cranks so they don't hit
Roddi - not with my Gamut.
