    Old LX chainset (M580) with new rings and old external bearings, but new beearings in

    new Deore chainset (M590) for about £25 more?

    Ahhhh the deores are “110g” heavier going by a quick search, I’d say that was down to the rings… what rings are you gunna put on the LX? Deore… probably end up the same weight then . Sounds like the £25 isn’t then end of the world for you, as your considering it.. buy em, there new and shiney.. sell the LX (keep the BB) and make some of the £25 back.

    You know all you really want is some-one to justify you spending more money 😉

    Weight difference is in the arms – LX were hollow forged arms, Deore are solid forged arms.

    I got some Deores not long ago and they’re still solid forged arms.. LX are hollowtech

    Sorted,

    only the middle ring was worn out, granny ring is fine, bash cleaned up nicely too.

    £11 on a new chain ring and a bit of Swarfega made the old LX look respectable once again.
