Madison Flux jersey

Grinder 85-18~4They say that black never goes out of fashion. Unfortunately, black does look a bit dull and I felt it was time to liven up my wardrobe a bit. The Flux jersey comes directly out of Madison’s own range and at a price point that is easy on the wallet. Initial brand snobbery aside, I was quite impressed by the cut, looks and the multi-panel and fabric layout of the jersey. With more aerated material placed in high sweat areas of the body the Flux was a joy to wear even on the hottest summer days. The quarter-length zip was a little short for my liking, but combined with the light material of the jersey I never felt as though I was overheating too much.

Surprisingly, the jersey was packed full of hidden features that only became evident on close inspection. Pockets for things, a section of material for wiping your glasses, a neat key pocket on the front that can hold a small MP3 player, internal loops for holding your earphones. Not that we’d ever recommend riding while listening to music… but it works very well and makes longer rides a little more enjoyable.

With a slightly more trail than race cut the Flux jersey never felt out of place when popping into establishments for refreshment during a ride, or even when sitting out after a ride enjoying the sun. It made a nice social jersey that I could wear out and about town while getting jobs done too. Honestly, I didn’t expect as much from this jersey as I got from it; I’ll be sad to see it go.

Overall: Comfortable, cheap, full of features and not paint-on lycra tight. Blue is the new black.
