Here we have captured the awesome cover artwork from Graeme, aka Stormstatic, in the rather entertaining medium of a jigsaw puzzle. Yes, jigsaw puzzles are so rewarding. Personally I was very pleased with myself to finish another jigsaw in only three weeks when the label on it said “12-24 months”! This one here is 1,000 pieces of jigsaw joy.
“It was a challenge to represent the mountain biking / outdoor adventure community in an urban (at home) setting. What would people who are normally found half way up a mountain or in a forest somewhere get up to when stuck at home and how do I turn that into a cool illustration that will work on the front cover of a bike mag?
Luckily there was lots of inspiration from the Singletrack forum and all the likeminded people I’m connected with on Instagram. Including all the different elements was the fun part, seeing how many I could fit in and figuring out how to incorporate them.
A tricky part was getting the perspective right, I had a long piece of string attached to the top of the A1 sheet of paper that I used to line everything up. When it came to colouring I wanted warm tones to give a golden hour look and a positive vibe to contrast the awful situation the world is dealing with at the moment.”
