The 5th and final round of the 2016 British Cyclocross National Trophy Series was held over the weekend in the West Midlands, and the results are in. Highlighting strong performances from all through the season, convincing wins were celebrated by Ian Field in the Elite Mens category, and Hannay Payton in the Elite Women’s category. Both riders have notched up multiple national series victories, sending a strong message to their competitors in the lead up to the National CX Championships in early January.
For Hannah Payton, it was her second consecutive National Series title, and we’ve got some words in from her sponsor, Kinesis UK, about the victory and what it means to Payton.

And Payton continued that form, with a win at the final round in Shrewsbury Park, which helped her clinch the overall National title.

Payton took the race by the horns at the final round of five and built a large winning margin over her nearest rival Annie Simpson of Hope Factory Racing. The victory in the mud of Shrewsbury took Payton’s total to 4 wins out of five in the series on her Kinesis UK CXRACE.

There ain’t no stopping Payton!

Payton said shortly after crossing the line “What often appears to be a sacrifice will in time prove to be worth it. Balancing training with uni has been a tough balancing act, but the sacrifices have proved to be worth it“.

This is Payton’s second National cyclocross title, after winning last year’s series too.

While the national series has been stitched up, all eyes will be on Peel Park in Bradford on the 7/8th of January in early 2017, as the country’s best cyclocross athletes duke it out for glory as part of the National Cyclocross Championships. Will Payton take victory in Bradford too?
