    He’s finally dropped the price!

I think he was attempting that, albeit with the intention of a more level entry :D

Along with the usual cakes/selection of savoury snacks, we’ve had a selection of fruit that no-one touched, and a massive selection of sweets. That lasted about 8 weeks.

Its gone :-( Was really looking forward to an 11 second clip of someone going down a rock garden!

“we were surprised that your contribution didn’t seem to match the warmth of your good wishes on our big day. In view of your own position, if you wanted to send any adjustment it would be thankfully received”

You could almost read that in totally the opposite way, almost sarcastic – ie “we were surprised that you gave us so much money considering you were a total misery and didn’t really congratulate us at all on our big day”

Couldn’t read all the replies on mumsnet but wonder if anyone suggested that way of looking at it?

Pushing the ‘west midlands’ boundaries here, but Bushcombe Lane in Woodmancote, Glos is definitely worth a vote. Google it.

But his spokesman has always said the claims are completely false? :D

I’ve found running very beneficial lately to my general MTB fitness. The only problem is after years of MTB-ing and hardly any running my calfs and achilles tendons really suffer, especially on hills

Had a similar thing happen on my DHR2 EXO. A slight tear at the base of a side knob. It happened landing a moderate jump, onto some loose rocks. I put it down to bad luck and ordered another to replace it. I’ve never had a problem with the EXO carcass on any other Maxxis I’ve used ie HR, HR2 and DHF

I’ve got the confirmation email too. However I got so excited ordering them I forgot my shifter is ispec b so won’t bl88dy be compatible with the brakes. I’d probably let mine go at cost as well if/when they turn up if anyone’s interested

Thanks! I needed an excuse to replace my perfectly good M8000 XTs :D

Low-sided on some gravel on mine doing the right-hand turn. So yes, I failed.

ocrider – average and fairly anonymous – a car truly is an extension of it’s owner :D

Wow, I was going to vote for my own car (pictured below) but its not as bad as some of the others on this thread:

I have a Grand Tourneo Connect g-d in answer to your question. It is totally un-van-like to drive, motorway noise isn’t much difference from my outgoing Focus estate. Its the 1.5 diesel 120ps though with 6 speed box. Handles well, just like a big estate really. It’s a little un-refined on some of the bumpier back roads. I absolutely love it, as do my family. The third row of seats slides forward to leave a fairly decent bit of room. Although I’ve currently taken out the third row of seats for maximum load/bikes/dogs/kids shite lugging. Its bl88dy huge.

Although there’s no denying its not the prettiest way to travel, not that I care though.

Anyone tried the Endura Gabbro with photocromatic lenses? They’re around the £60 mark and look quite smart and understated (in the photos!)

Really don’t think you’ll need the Shorty. Even with the rain forecast for Friday, it should still be fine for Sat/Sun. You could always park at nearby Beechenhurst which is about a 5 minute cycle path ride away. Or if you’re feeling stingy Speculation car park/picnic site is just up the road from PBA.

Largely depends on the walkers own individual attitude to cyclists as well. I have a bell on my XC bike as I often end up on canal tow paths etc. If I ding the bell quite often I get “a simple excuse me please would have been nice” and if I say excuse me please then I seem to get an angry “you should have a bell on that”

Gorilla tape once with a 4″ overlap over the valve hole

In fact got one with Stans and one with gorilla tape. They both work absolutely fine but gorilla tape is a fraction of the price and goes on easier.

25mm wide gorilla tape, from B&Q if you’re interested in where I got it from

doris I think the exact same thing. In some cases reading the article actually ‘de-values’ the comedy in the headline if you see what I mean.

Indeed. I’m really not that enamoured with the idea of a coaster brake at all. Especially as he’s totally got the hang of the rear brake on his balance bike. Looking around for something else for him at the moment – he’s a tiny bit too small for a cnoc 14 so I’d like a cheapish lightish 12″ bike to get him going until he fits a cnoc. Anyway, I digress.

Errrm good question – if I put the pedal at say 1 o-clock and he pushes down on the pedal, it doesn’t pick up until 5 o-clockish (4 hours later  )

Recently got a Grand Tourneo Connect which is very car-like to drive but a van-based body. So far its been brilliant, have taken the rear two seats out so its currently only a 5-seater but the amount of space is amazing. Its not pretty though

So managed to get a couple of rides in on our family holiday in Brighstone last week. Really enjoyed the riding, Grammars Common (is that the cheeky fir plantation that was mentioned above?) was a good laugh and stayed dry and fast even after rain – loads of lines up there, berms, jumps, gaps etc really well made stuff although some very overgrown, doesn’t look like its ridden much at all. Brighstone Forest itself was also good, and much longer trails although some of it was very muddy and sloppy such as BBB, Ho Chi Minh and Baghdad. Deegans Drop and Berlin Wall were running well though. On the whole had two fantastic rides :-)

Yeah we had the cheap red Halfords one as well. Little boy Wilko was riding it around at 15 months. I don’t think there’s much point spending much on a 10″ wheel one as they grow out of them very quickly. 3 months after getting it he commandeered his big sister’s Stompee (12″ wheels) and has been on that since.

Deanwood caravan and camping is a really good site and not as pricey as whitemead. Bit further from pedalabikeaway if that bothers you but great views and it’s right at the top of some excellent hidden off-piste trails

I considered the Aeris and Spitfire before changing bikes towards the end of last year. Went with the Spitfire in the end (excuse the rubbish photography):

I’m off there Saturday, staying in Brighstone for the week. Some information here on riding routes:

Sorry, no idea on what tyres though. The weather is looking pretty good between now and next week so I’m hoping the trails will be drying out by then. I’m just going with my usual DHF front/DHR2 rear. Unless some locals reply and say it’ll be a total bogfest I might stick my Shorty back on the front.

Captain slow boot volume is a bit misleading. The x is bigger because it’s got a higher roof which doesn’t translate really to usable space, in terms of floor area.

Gorilla here too. 25mm wide rolls from B&Q for 2.49 enough for about 5 x 650b rims

Conditions there are amazing at the moment, especially off-piste. Hope it holds up for the bank holiday.

Thanks for the info, my route takes in Ho CHi Minh, Deegans Drop, Brighstone singletracks 1 & 2, bomber, quantum leap, bbb and some others that look like they might be trails :-) fingers crossed conditions are okay from 2nd to 9th April!

I’m not questioning your approach or philosophy, everyone is in this sport for their own reasons. It was coming on a thread asking for advice on a line through some berms and effectively saying he was doing it all wrong and should find a different hobby for not doing it like you. Anyway, that’s how it came across and I’ve fallen into the trap of trying to justify myself on an internet forum which I normally try and avoid at all costs!
