STW is the only forum / website folk are having problems with?

Soon I might end up putting this into the swear filter…

A third party keyboard would be something like swiftkey. And before anyone asks, I classify Gboard – Google Keyboard to not be third party (even though you can download it) as it is shipped as the default system keyboard for the Pixel range.

We make minimal changes / modifications to the codebase. But we have to make small changes because believe it or not, you guys (the STW forum users) push some aspects of the codebase in ways they were never meant to be pushed. For example, the sheer volume of forum posts you guys have created over the years pushes the codebase of the forum and the database structure. It was never intended to handle so many posts but we change it so it can handle it.

We are not ignoring you guys but rather caught up with other things that you guys don’t see. Like the fact we had to fight off a DDoS attack a couple days ago. We were able to defend the website against it with minimal distruption to you guys but it took us away from everything else including bug fixes. Its just these things that we have to deal with in the background that make it look like nothing it being done but trust me they are.

And I’d like to reiterate that there is only two of us in the tech dept. That means two of us to run and develop an entire website and manage the internals at STW HQ. Currently I am handling the front end of the website and STW internal stuff as my colleague handles migrating from a legacy system which has a dependency on a third party system which is being sunseted for the end of this year.

    Hi all,

For those that don’t know I’m one of the two web developers at STW HQ. There has been a few issues pointed out in this thread but the one that stands out the most that is causing people the most agro is the autocorrect / spell-check, right? I want to say we don’t provide support for third party keyboards. However, we will try to provide support for this issue. (I can say myself that I am also experiencing this issue so I understand the frustration).

One thing we might be able to do is revert to a plain text editor as opposed to the current WYSIWYG editor. One of the downsides to this is loss of features / functionality such as the tools to insert links and images. Would you guys be happy with reverting to a simple text editor if it meant it solved the autocorrect issue?

(By the way, I’m not saying this will solve it but rather it might and I’ll look into doing this if you guys are happy with a simple text editor.)

    Sorry.

    Hi all,

We have noticed that our consent management platform (CMP) has been causing a few issues recently so we have temporarily turned it off until we have fixed it. The Advertising CMP will continue to show as normal. We understand having two CMPs is not idea and is very bad for user experience. We have plans to combine the two CMPs but requires us to work with our advertising provider to do that so will try and get the done as soon as we can.

    How are things now?

Should have sorted it out now and I’ve deployed the new CSS. It could take a couple minutes for the new CSS to come through.

    Hi guys,

I can reproduce this issue and it is an issue with our CSS and its compatibility with Safari. I will get this fixed soon as I can. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will reply here when I have got it fixed.

To all that have had trouble logging in recently, try this link – Reset Cookies. This link is also found at the bottom of the login page called ‘Troubles logging in?’

This link will clear all singletrackworld.com cookies. This means it will log you out if you are already logged in. This will make sure any old cookies have been removed allowing for the new ones to work as expected.

If you still experience troubles logging in, please contact us here

We are still aware that some of you still cannot login. We understand you’re frustration and appreciate your patience. We are still working on a fix of which an ETA should be either tomorrow or Tuesday.

Once again, really sorry for the inconvenience.

We have implemented a new feature which is to allow private messaging from:
    – Only people you specify
    – Only friends
    – Everyone
    – Except certain people

This can be accessed from Profile > Settings > Message Privacy.

If you receive a message from someone you don’t want messages from, you can block them from sending messages to you straight from inside the message itself using the “Stop receiving messages from this user” button.

ON MY PHONE THERE IS NO GREY BAR WITH SPEECHMARKS OR ANYTHING !!

Try clearing your browser cache. On Chrome this can be done by going to History -> Clear browser data -> (tick) images and files. See if they appear after you’ve cleared it.

    It doesn’t work.

I also don’t see any formatting buttons, on any browser.

I can add tags though, which is good.

If thats the case then I suspect that the JavaScript isn’t being loaded for you. When you click the preview button it will append your reply as the last reply and be highlighted in a pale yellow. (So the preview is just above the editor box)

Sorry for todays interruptions. This was out of our control as our hosting provider had some trouble. We’ve had to play a waiting game for them to sort it out.

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

    Hey guys,
Just to keep you updated we are aware of the site performance issues that sometimes creep up now and then. Because they don’t really have much of a pattern of when they happen, it’s rather difficult for us to pin down exactly what it is.

We have a new (revised) plan after last week’s down time and hopefully the new plan will sort out the performance with the site.

We much appreciate when you tell us which browser (+version), OS (+version) and if you can how the issues happen (what did you do to trigger it).

Don’t hesitate to drop us an email at tech@singletrackworld.com for problems or issues you come across.

Really sorry about all of this, we’re trying our best. Hopefully we’ll get it sorted soon.

    Thanks and happy holidays :)

Hey guys. Tom here from the tech team. Just wondering if I could get some more information on the issue such as where and when it happens plus a screenshot if possible.

Email tech@singletrackworld.com or me personally at tom.alker@singletrackworld.com.
    Thanks.

Hi. Could I ask for some more details from you such as what device you are using, what version of iOS you are using and the if possible a brief description on where about you are encountering the error (downloading from the app store or launching the app).

One thing to note is that the update to the app now requires you to have iOS 8 or higher.

You can email me at tom.alker@singletrackworld.com if you encounter any more problems with either the Grit.CX app or the Singletrack premier app.

    Thanks

What device and device version (for example, device: iPhone, device version: 5S) is this issue occurring on. Could you also specify which version of iOS you are using (such as iOS 8.0 or iOS 8.4).
At the same time, it would be helpful to know which devices it does work on and are not experiencing this issue.
