You will need some extra K’s but this was a fantastic route, taking the best bits from a wiggle south downs sportive and riding to them from the north downs 🙂

in terms of advice, if you don’t have GPS just write all the village names on a piece of paper and tape it to your stem/TT. you can then just confirm every now and again with phone maps.

take plenty of food but plan to stop at a village shop/ petrol station at some point so you arnt carrying silly amounts of stuff. and do it on a nice day 🙂

surely that website is just the hangover from ‘old ibis’ and you cant go and buy one still….

PS and if you are looking at a second hand one then only you know if u want one, but I expect that want would be more out of nostalgia than reality!!

Yup, original colour but they didn’t offer it for long because the rubberised paint doesn’t last well

Mmmm imo you can’t be over braked. Never thought it made much difference but I now run 203/180 on all my ‘xc’ bikes.
Run with a light and powerful brakeset (martas but u can’t get them any more)

Really helps me dump speed and stops any thoughts of overheating, I’m only 10 St btw

(I’m too out of touch with how this relates to current hopes)

Slow reply but – You just clearly have a big project thing going on and know how to do many things which I do not!

I made a headboard this weekend and that is probably the biggest bit of DIY i’ve ever done 😳

IMO – the answer to any ‘long distance short’ thread is Assos, castelli/rapha come close but nothing beats the real thing. I wasn’t a believer until I got some (the last of all my ridding buddies). one of my best purchases

Anyone got any pictures of their similar installation?

Jambo do you mean the brickwork in that picture or the flue and lining etc? Im open to ideas about how the woodburner is surrounded, im new to this home alteration business and have no idea what im likely to find behind the fire!

I did it on Compact and 25 without too many issues, managed to stay on top of the gear all the time. I was relatively fit at the time though.

2 hrs for the bedoin side is supposed to be the amateur target, I was a bit silly and did all three sides.

If you are doing it as a fun driving trip make sure you drive up and down and over to the gorge du verdon and on to Route Napoleon too.

I enjoyed a visit there a few years ago, I remember the surface being some set in round stones that were like slippy cobbles. That wasn’t so fun but otherwise good fun trail centre stuff

Lots of Nimbys round here…. who know how to get in touch with their MP 🙂

Just so long as they leave the downs alone, it doesn’t affect Reigate house prices and its reasonably hidden then I don’t really mind 🙂

Just had an offer excepted in Reigate, put it in on the first day of viewings and we offered pretty close to asking as everything good has been moving fast recently.

weren’t actually looking too intently, just keeping an eye so it felt like we pretty much ‘impulse bought’ a house 🙂

Get your back sorted and work on your flexibility. 10 mins work every morning on hamstring stretches and you will be able to slam that stem and the bike will thank you for making it look awesome

    😉

Ps it looks pretty sweet already!

I lost a black mavic soft shell on the north downs around reigate, dorking, mickleham, ranmore.

Annoyed as it was really useful and comfy and cost money’s 🙁

I had similar at school when I was learning to write.

Was so focused on forming the letters how I was told and being neat I fell massively behind.

Took me about a year to realise that speed was actually FAR more important than accuracy and therefore threw all neatness out the window, fell into my ‘natural’ spidery style and suddenly caught right back up. 🙂

    Interesting dreednya

Nice looking build, do you find it flexy? I’m noticing it more and more through the bends

Ccdb is a bit too spendy for now and my shock is pushed so I don’t mind it

I went 1* 10 over summer and it’s much more reliable at holding the chain and still climbs fine

At the moment rent and a really bad work expenses system means I don’t seem to have much disposable.

I am putting £350 a month into a nice motor though.

Anything left goes on clothes, holidays and saving into the house deposit pot.

+1 for married couple in good jobs and no idea how people afford kids!!

Sorry to hear, I would use it as an opportunity to innovate with what you do. For me this would be transitioning to a niche player or a big corporate leader (depending on which ur in now) Look to take your skills across into consulting perhaps?

id be very careful about those ‘dream job’ type ideas depending on your stage of life/ responsibilities. recently did a photography course and the trainer spent a significant portion of time complaining about the number of people that come on his courses to set up a photography business… their expectations/reality gap was usually significant (ps this is not a dig, you may be a fantastic photographer who could make it pay, there are many who arnt)

    Have fun funkydunk!

I’ve got a golf gti mk7, drove down to the south of France on some proper roads this summer and was able to use all its performance through the alpine roads and get my heel and toe sorted 🙂

Love driving, the sound, g forces
