Great psa, always go and see the ‘uk world tour’ and were just thinking last night that the second dorking screening would be cancelled. Rewatching some of the greatest hits should help 🙂

Yup, that’s the feeling. I was getting it a couple of times a day too at my fittest.

Multivitamin with iron taken with Orange juice (helps the iron not mess up your tummy) made a difference for me

Re the head rush when standing up:

I have had some success with iron supplements helping to reduce this. Recommended by another rider, could tell u why it works though.

Only happens when I’m at my fittest

When I said high intensity I was thinking anything above threshold/anaerobic/ inducing muscle pain tbh. I’m not an expert but those efforts deffo have correlated in the past with me getting a cold, especially if combined with any alcohol!

Deffo reduce intensity, I did a fast road ride a few days ago. Only short and thought I wasn’t taking the piss. Anyway, woke up with a sore throat the next day and now bricking it a bit. Fingers crossed it’s nothing

They do all do that, you will at least find that they will warranty them though. Send it back if you have any proof of purchase. And otherwise I’ve heard rumour of the shimano 12spd mechs slotting right on 🤔

I’m getting over a cold and have spent too much time daydreaming about mtbing so I did about 7k in the Surrey hills pushing my jumping abilities! At least it didn’t work my lungs, but was plenty scary

I’m on 27.5, 29 is faster pretty much everywhere. But I just enjoy the chuckability, cornering on 27.5. I’m on the latest Trek remedy and very very happy

I’ve been very unlucky with X01 (or they are all this shit)

Had the top jockey wheel self distruct issue about 4 months in, now the replacement is 6 months old and the spring is so weak it won’t change down. Sent off for another warranty replacement tomorrow.

Don’t spend much…. or slap an XT 12 on

Fox 36 grip2 are incredible but very expensive. Really coil like in the small bump sensitivity and limited (but just enough) ramp up at the end. I’ve been very impressed.
Stiffness also very good, with carbon wheels so it’s hard to say it’s all fork but they hold a line over all sorts of off camber crap. The setup guide is great as there are so many options, every time I’ve moved from the recommendations it’s felt worse! (Re reading your post I’m not sure I’d trust myself servicing them but maybe that’s just me!)

Yesterday was a banging ride through the leaves on pitch hill. Guided some mates from work who are strong roadies getting into mtb side of things. Was good fun watching them find the buzz and the limits of what they wanted to do!

done two events and bought probably 5 pics from each. I like it and can add them to instagram/stava etc Often look great and i appreciate the photographers work. Its hard to get good riding photos of you so take the opportunity while its there!

Plus one on the QECP day and night enduro being a fantastic day out. Now wondering if I can manage another couple over the summer.

Came with a mate and bagged a top ten in masters in my second ever race and first time outside of Fun. Me and my buddy finished less than a second apart (Thank god I snuck in the win, he was on a Hardtail vs my enduro spec beast!)

Give it a go if you are on the fence, start in Fun and then move up to the main categories once you have a good idea of the speeds.

Plus one for Beaufort- trail addictions destination x if you remember that!

I went with them and it was sodding fantastic. Natural trails with rock tech sections and switchbacks all over the place. Also did and overnight at a refuge which was incredible. A couple of the ex trail addiction guides look to have set themselves up round there

I go every year, minimum effort level is a trip to a charity shop for a tweed jacket and a flat cap, pair with some chinos and your good.

I did a Grease inspired 50s look one year so if you have a leather jacket or a tight white tshirt (!) that might be an option?

have fun, it’s great – my wife makes a new dress for it each year!

Personally I’d pick from the terra nova catalogue!

our voyager xl has been brilliant for two up bike touring and backpacking. Spares etc are easy, inner first easy pitching and completely weatherproof

Try a proper sports massage to loosen quads and itb. It’s probably tightness pulling stuff out of line. My massage girl told me about one of her patients that had suffered for years and was about to have a knee op who she sorted in a couple of sessions

Been out in the inch or two that’s in the Surrey hills

had a wonderful ride, beautiful views, really grippy snow and not a drop of mud

caught the handlebars on a fence on the way home and knee’d the fork crown hard, stings a bit!

Careful of the joys of disc and axle standards too, 12mm thru and flat mount seems to be the modern standard (for now) and opens up new duraace/ultegra brakes

Yeah saw your thread, i also considered steel but my thought process was considerably influenced by the bike weight calcs i did.

once you add a steel frame, disc groupset and mildly sensible parts you might be disspointed how much that might weigh.

Put it this way, ive thrown a lot of money at my build (dura ace mech/hydro, hunt wheels, some berk/extralite parts) and im probably still gonna be over 7kg by the time im finished.

Thats an estimated 900g frame weight, you can double that for a mainstream steel frame therefore 8kg is very likely.

i knew id be disappointed by that, whether you will be only you know 🙂

Rapha jackets are on sale. The pro team race cape is the proper waterproof but only as breathable as all the rest.

My recommendation is the pro team soft shell, I’ve been living in it all winter, tight aero fit, warm and waterproof enough.

I hope not I’ve just ordered this:

Extralite is the stuff of my childhood dreams, and it helps that the website hasn’t changed since about 1997

Pics would help but some thoughts:

Is the saddle completely flat? Have you tried a very slight nose down
Is it better when you are on the tops? Vs hoods and drops?
Have you got a levelling block under the front wheel?

Don’t ignore it, short term can lead to long term according to some stuff I’ve read
I do generally find turbo less comfortable than on the road or even rollers, something about the lack of movement

Crikey titusrider – what paintjob you going for??

Probably a pearl white base with a splatter of black and bright blue but still tbd

Hardest decision of the whole process!

I’m doing the ‘one disc super bike for everything’ approach

Have picked the build kit to make sure cassette/chain/chain rings aren’t silly money and can be consumable.
Key benefit of disc for me is running carbon wheels and my nice bike all year round
Got one of these on order

Thanks all, Lots to think about

Tang, I see from the thread a couple of months ago you know your onions – thanks

I just can get excited about English for the very reason they aren’t English

And much as I’d love Enigma, every one of their frames pictured has a massive ‘sportive friendly’ length head tube that I just hate ( yes I know it’s custom and I could change it but just worries me, would they get it?)

I also take on board being a lighter guy, carbon might be nice to keep the weight in check.

Current favourite is a call to filament and see how I get on there. Oh and work out where the money is gonna come from, anyone want a Cotic simple 26er? 🙂
