In the near term not all roads will be certified for autonomous driving so the car will need to enquire if the next segment on the planned or predicted route is valid for autonomous driving or not.

Also certain segments will be dependent on weather conditions, bridges in high wind, and other segments may be turned off due to accidents, so the car will need to periodically request an ok/nok to drive autonomously.

The car will need a connection to the Internet to receive and transmit data, which it will of course use to make decisions. However the majority of the data needed to make the decision will be provided by on car systems.

Hacking is clearly a major risk and is something that is taken every extremely seriously. There are a number of different methods used today to create a secure connection, both to/from the car and to/from the cloud based service it communicates with.

A lot of these ‘it will fail when scenarios’ are based on the assumption that every single road and situation will allow for autonomous driving, which is still a very long way off.

The Volvo project in Gothenburg set for next year/2017 has a limited set of roads that will allow for autonomous driving, and none will have pedestrians or cyclists. Once this is proven to be successful then the application of this technology can be increased to other areas/situations.

The majority of the claims made by various car manufacturers are very far fetched regarding the scope.

Campagnolo Bullet have an aluminium braking surface and a pretty deep carbon profile. Although at a somewhat higher price point.

First in line equals quickest to get a rider if/when they need help. Being 10 plus cars back on single farm tracks means potentially losing a shed load of time just waiting around.

Not so vital when on major French roads, but tomorrow it could mean a lot

    The-Swedish-Chef

Well there’s gonna be some sore bodies tomorrow with plenty of road rash going on.

I’ve lost Gerrans from my team, and I’ll be surprised if Fabs toes the line, so that’ll be a lot of teams one rider down.

A slight re-arrangement in the STW overall top three:

1: Team Michael Flatley Quick Step, DS Scandal42, on 1133 points
2: Team Raleigh banana, DS Chris chaddock, on 954 points
3: Team daves dynamos, DS, kaney99, on 946 points

Roll on the pavë for more destruction.

Conveniently it wasn’t on caught TV, but the gap was big enough for the commissioners car to be there….

Or least not in Eurosport Sweden coverage

Did Sagan get a drafting fine?

I was somewhat surprised that he made contact with the lead group again, and then had the power to almost win!

Geax worked really well for me, Aka and Saguaro front and back. Now they’re re-branded as Vitoria they can be found pretty cheaply.

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow combine some of my favourite words in cycling

    Echelons
    Mur
    Pavê

    Great “classics” racing.

Not sure we have a fantasy league thread?

So the scores on the doors after 2 stages are as follows for the top three:

1: Alan`s Deep Bath, DA Andy are on 772 points, (just outside the top 100 overall! kudos)
2: Brooklyn Chewing Gum, DS Flux are on 749 points
3: Michael Flatley Quick Step, DS Scandal42 are on 745 points

I really like these previews! As someone who has no knowledge of downhill race craft I find interesting to see just how big a difference taking various lines can make.

The three I listen to are:

The Cycling Podcast (the Telegraph one), by Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie, and Daniel Friebe, good free content, years worth of extra content for a fiver.

The Velocast, some free stuff including a good tech series, some stuff like daily shows from major races at a tenner a month or so.

The Cyclocross Network, good for CX obviously

Well we started with number four and they both loved it.

Amazing how much knowledge they pick up from the Lego games and what the other children at school have said.

Have to say that although it was dated it,has aged very well!

Think I’ve got it working via the laptop hack!

Throttled down the rate to stop the flickering and now the TV picks up that it has a HDMI signal!

Feels like buying a car and not using more than second gear to be honest.

From my laptop. Thought I changed the output resolution but now the screen is just flickering and showing the message mode not supported.

    Hope, maybe

Only HDMI. Although I can now access the menu screen as I plugged the cable straight into the player

    The-Swedish-Chef

Right, cable works as I can extend my desktop to the TV via HDMI.

    The-Swedish-Chef

Interesting thanks. At the moment I can’t even get the TV to recognize that it has something connected via HDMI

As said you don’t need to run Apple car play, it’s just an option. The reason it stands out is that it demands a different USB output power, therefore there had to be a specially marked port for it.

If you get Norwegian you take big steps to getting the other Germanic languages, especially Swedish and Danish (Norsk but spoken like you’ve got a potato in yer gob)

Yes to Swedish and Norwegian being alike but Danish? No chance!

    Good luck to you.

As to why, well I found it embarrassing that as soon as I’d walk into a meeting every one would switch to English, yet I was in their country.

If you’re planning to work there, as opposed to just with them, then go for it.

I’ve just got a pair of Inov8 race ultra 290’s which are very nice, they feel super fast on hard gravel and well packed singletrack. I’ll use them for racing and tempo sessions and keep my Salomon SpeedCross for distance work and recovery runs.
