Yeah kinda, but what’s wrong with one day races?

Not aimed at you, but the general consensus is that GC I better and I disagree with that.

GC is formulaic and to a greater extent predictable, one day races, especially the northern classics are just the opposite.

Edit, unless you’re referring to the Three days of de Panne, in which case, yeah cool

Just watched the final 10km again, damn that was just text book by G.

Etixx QS are getting their races taken away from them.

Awsome that the entire BMC squad couldn’t catch those 3 in the breakaway. Flanders is gonna rock next week.

Wow, that was bloody great. So so glad I skipped the Internet and watched the reply race on Eurosport.

No wonder they pulled Brad if Thomas is on this form, also great to see Stannard in trouble but pull it back again.

Arhh Cancellara’s out with a sore wrist after the crash.

It can’t all be falling into Brads lap can it?…..

Only you and your son can really answer that.

Coming from an elite junior background I’d say that’s a lot of training from an 11 year old, regardless if its an impact or non impact sport.

However as long as he’s doing it with a smile and willingly, not getting injured, and not letting his grades suffer then great.

Really surprised by some of these comments, I’m going to have to re-address these.

Interesting call to use them as a rear only tyre.

Currently he’d be, at best, the third protected rider behind Stannard and Thomas, so he needs to prove himself to get even that status.

The tin hat brigade must be doing their nut now!

Racing snake isn’t on the list. (Although given what most of the peloton seems to be on, I’m now days on the portly off season snake side of things)

Thanks, those Crests are disk only though.

Racing BMX rims laced to normal Shimano hubs seems the best way to go for anything half decent.

    Nice bike!

If you find a source for lightweight 24″ wheels let me know, as in general they are always the worst area on these bike. (Scott Scale 24″ here).

Kwiatkowski’s showing a lot of respect for those stripes, really good to see.

Wonder if he’ll end up at Sky next year as the rumor mill suggests?

Quickstep lost another semi classic, Dwars door Vlaanderen, yesterday to the Pro Conti team Topsport Vlaanderen.

E3 on Friday, good race, despite the somewhat dodgy poster department

Yeah that maps with my thinking too mrblobby.

Great to see a resurgence in ali frames IMO.

or £650 for the Bowman, nice choice to have to make.

Probably leaning on the Bowman side due to the graphics/colourway

There’s one at the back of the Nationwide Swindon.

There was a time when this was the standard answer on here. Thanks for the 🙂

Racing Ralph 2.25’s will be on my race bike this year.

Light, strong, (so far), and good grip.

Also like the Geax, now Vittora tyres for racing

Pull the bike apart and weigh everything first, then decide where the easy value of money gains are.

26″ is pretty good for second hand bargains.

I don’t find that sustainable power is quite right for racing situations, (unless in a TT), as pulling turns on the road, or technical sections on XC courses require going above the sustainable level for 30 seconds or so, then dropping back to just under it.

Therefore I think the MTB plans are very good for this, as I said a few posts up, the over and under emphasis is perfect for replicating this.

    ‘Chef – there’s a £700 cost differential right there

I know, but you actually pin a number on, so its money well spent.

In true STW style I’ll suggest something else.

Just get a Kickr and be done with it 8)

We built a small “granny flat” on our land a few years ago. Well built is a bit of a stretch, designed, project managed, and purchasing were in our scope, the actual build was contracted out to our builder.

Found the whole process to be really good fun. We came in about 5K over budget with most of that being extra ground work.

    Build thread here:

Just realized that I haven’t put any actual pictures of the completed interior, oh well

Strada Bianche is a relatively new race, all be it a bloody good one. The true classics are also referred to as the 5 monuments, four of which occur in the spring. The other one day races fight for getting described as semi classics, (of which there is no consensus).

There has been attempts by the UCI to group them into a season long series, but this concept has failed a few times.

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_cycle_races

Calling your race a classic in the title does not count as it being one.

In many ways women’s cycling is so much better, turn up, rip the legs off each other then go home.

Actually remember watching last year’s race from this cours and being well and truely pumped up for the XC season.

Hmm minus 4 prognosis for tomorrow mornings 3hour session, not so pumped currently.

Agree it’s not a spectacular course to view but I bet it’s a killer to ride, so much soft sand to negotiate.

Crux is a nice frame if you like the US style bottom bracket height. Otherwise Ridley is the natural Euro centric choice.

However I’m going through a real Bowman love in at the moment with their Palace frame so I’d wait to see what their CX frame looks like
