How about getting dropped at Mam Nick. Along to Edale cross down to the village then up Jaggars clough and down the Roman road, and then either get picked up in Hope or ride back to Edale, otherwise as Martyn descibes.

After Dane bower hollow take the footpath on the other side of the road down to to the river and through the old Quarries. Follow the track along the side of the hill until the footpath about half way along drop through the field and your now at the back of three shires take the footpath to three shire then climb cut thorn to get back to Cumberland Brook. Sorry I’m on hols or I’d draw you a map. This doesn’t add much time but is a nicer way to the bridge.

I have a laser comp and don’t get on with it so much so I’ve switched to biving. I can second the Dewline used it loads this year including biving on Kinder at -5 and I was cosy with a couple of extra layers.

I think you have have a proper tent for mountain marathons bivis and TARPS aren’t allowed.

I just spent the past 10 days riding up cols in the pyranees on my GT grade and I might have been a bit slower but I tell you I wasn’t finding as difficult as some of the guys with normal chainsets and 23 tooth cassettes. Plus I felt a lot safer on the decents. It will now be doing a week towing the 3 year old on the forest tracks in the vendee. It’s saved me taking two bikes on holiday.

Like BWD I ride footpaths in the peak district even more so since the Rushup Edge debacle. But I think open access would be disaster in the Peaks. I ride sensible times and when the conditions are right. I’m lucky if I see another person on many of my rides. The peak is in reach of millions of people and having bikers and walkers on the same trails on a sunny Sunday or bank holiday would just cause conflict or accidents. I’d much prefer a more considered approach such as that on Snowdon or how the Eastern Moors have been opened up rather than a free for all.

Just about to set off on a 3 week holiday in Spain and France. Doing 2 moves. I find anymore is your wasting time setting up and packing up. I used to try and do too much and I’d end up disappointed and frustrated. It probably your expectations of what you can do on a holiday that needs to change rather than her indoors.

+1 for Jupiter Acending worse film I’ve seen recently. Batman and Robin is dreadful and I only stayed in the cinema as I thought my friends wanted to watch it. It turned out we all hated it. My kids love it though.

I came back to running last year summer after a big break and a massive loss of fitness, although i was a lot slower than you.

I set myself a maximum speed and distance and applied that for about 6 months even though it felt easy and I had to force myself to slow down but it allowed my body to get used to the running. You lungs and muscles will adapt quickly especially if your fit from cycling. But the connecting tissues and tendons take the time to adjust and they heal slowly as well it’s not worth rushing in my opinion. Last time i came back the time to running I ended up with shot achilles due too much, too steep too soon.

My lung age is always at least 10 years older than my actual age even when I was marathon running. I can still beat my mates 10 years younger and several stone lighter to the top of some of the steepest hills. I think I’ve just got small efficient lungs

I rode two massive peak district MTB rides at the weekend, yesterday and this evening i’ve done two hilly road rides. The road riding makes me a much stronger mountain biking and i enjoy the my mountain biking more for it.

I was there last weekend, with my boys. We were in the big field and had a great time. The boys made friends with a couple of other families and i barley saw them all weekend. The outdoor pool was a bit cold. They have there own real ales which are good. Its also right on the Tissington trail though its on the steepest part which can be a struggle for young kids.

I was just about to post the same, I usually take a large as I have a long back and tried the large and the medium park in Evans carpark and i could barely get my leg over the large its massive. It’s supposed to be a 56cm, I ride a 57cm Kinesis and its miles bigger.

The venn diagram of the music I like and the music the missus likes has never been too bad. We can agree on a lot she refuses to allow Nick Cave and I refuse to allow Jamiroquai in the car,, recently she had taken a liking to Pitbull which I cannot approve or understand

I use a cheap seat post rack weighs nothing and an alpkit dual airlok strapped but thats on a hardtail without a dropper. Done Telegraph valley and Jacobs ladder with that set up no problems. I think i would work on Full suss without a dropper.

Do people really think that UKIP would get 4 million votes if those votes counted for anything. We live in a Tory stronghold loads so my vote was pointless so I voted for a party to increase their share of the vote. If we had PR then every vote counts and I would have voted labour. I suspect the same in the northern areas where ukip came second to labour if those counted most would have gone to the Tories.
