Having been married for ten years, I have to say that I rather miss fit, 30something mentalists.

I’m toying with the idea of one. Any good? Is there a noticeable difference from a circular ring?

That’s just the sort of occasion to use the line

    “I ain’t saying nuffink, till I see Burnside….”

These exact words once earned me a night in Scarborough nick. To be honest, I’ve slept in worse places.

I’ve just moved to the edge of Dartmoor and have been slowly putting the finishing touches to my 456 in anticipation of trying out the trails. Its been for a cheeky trip around Haldon after work, but i’ve yet to take it up on to the Moor itself.

Other than Lustleigh Cleave and the Princetown/Burrator loop are there other spots people recommend? I’ve heard about Hound Tor too

Where have you moved to, Tom? I’ve got a riding mate who lives in Bovey Tracey.

After living in Barnstaple and then Braunton for a few years, this was just the kind of shit that made me want to move back to Plymouth. Car park charges at the Burrows were the last straw for me.

As an alternative, I’m presently very interested in a Cube Nutrail. Seems like a relative bargain.

I’m a Capricorn and enjoy long walks in the park. I think I could be just the man you’re looking for.

If quiet campsites are your thing,THIS PLACE[/url] is great.

If I had £4k to spend on a holiday, it probably wouldn’t be in Cornwall, and I live there.

Too many tight switchbacks for my liking. Some of my mates love it though.

I learned to snowboard in 1991 and I’ve almost always worn one. On the few occasions that I’ve worn a hat, I find that my goggles would steam up really easily, especially when putting them up on my forehead.

The most important thing is to make sure there’s absolutely no gap between the helmet and goggles.

Idiotic question but is Cornwall as bereft of bridleways as Devon?

Assuming you mean North Devon, then West Cornwall has a pretty similar level of MTB trails. The rest of Devon is very different to that bit of the A361 between Barnstaple and Braunton.

Loads of stuff to do in SE Cornwall too, especially as it’s easy to access Plymbridge and Dartmoor for riding. Polzeath was a good idea too.

SE Cornwall. It almost never snows here. I did see a weather forecast that suggested the Westcountry may have some snow in the next week. I’m expecting some cold rain.

Did you get them as clubcard points? They’re worth double at evans. You have to claim them on the clubcard website though.

Two pages in and still no mention of the Women…

Ah, you beat me to it. Spent a brilliant weekend in Stockholm once. I’ve never seen so many amazing women in such a concentration. Astounding!

    Useful phrases:

Hej, tak, hejda, jeg elsker deg, du ha smoga einer (actually Danish, but seems to be understood).

I also briefly worked on a farm in Sweden, but that’s another story.

Carl Philips and I are planning on meeting a mate for a day around east dartmoor on Tuesday the 20th. You’d welcome to join us.

Also, Rockin’ Bikes in Yelverton do regular rides from their shop. I expect they could sort you out with something closer to our way.

Slightly off-direction, but do you fancy some company for your Princetown & Burrator rides. Living in Saltash, I don’t ride Dartmoor anywhere near as much as I should.

I’d probably look for a second-hand 14″ that he can learn on, for the short period he’ll need it before the 16″. Then sell it on without losing any money.

It’s my 40th today. I’d planned on a day on the Quantocks with a group of good friends, with a finish in the Bicknoller Inn. However, I buggered my back up on Tuesday, meaning I’ll be spending the day watching telly. Humph.

My wife did ask me earlier this evening, what size road frame I ride. I secretly hope she’s noticed how many times I’ve looked at a certain titanium Salsa frameset.

I’ve still not had mine and been waiting several weeks. I’ve had a letter explaining that stocks have run out and it’ll take another 28days. Waited that time, then had another email to say I should expect another delay of 28days.

    Hmmph.

Jay loves to get the miles in so he’ll be well up for a proper Dartmoor ride. Due to various circumstances, we’ve only had him around Cann a few times since he’s moved to Bovey. He’ll be really grateful if you can show him around, Harry.

I’d love to join you, but my post-op leg is still quite painful, so gonna rest it ’til Monday.

I very much like the model Rose Bikes use, offering multiple options on their website. Kind of a semi-custom build.

    Because:

    I’d only want a reverb
I don’t need lights as I have them already (and I don’t need a rear for MTB)
    I don’t ever use mudguards
There are multiple options for pedals, and probably hundreds of different styles, all very particular to the user
The tyre sealant would probably have dried up by the time the bike had been exported/imported, and sold.

As it is, I prefer to build a bike from scratch. Complete bikes always come with crap bars, tyres, stems, saddles, BBs, brakes and headsets. I quite like the idea of buying a rolling chassis though. Klein used to do them, and call it a fuselage.

I’d like a rigid carbon one, just for the mud clearance.
