    LMAO Nice one
    Keep on truk’n fella.

CG, I’ll have to search out this Poldark, thing, fellow, in order to understand what you’re referring to.
As always, I’m grateful for your input.
    :-D

    That’s it people, good night!

Luckily my rugged good looks, charismatic charm, witty repertoire, creative flair and unrivalled sartorial elegance narcissism have eclipsed the shine from my severe noggin allowing me to lead an extraordinarily rich and fulfilling life..
I dunno if I would feel very comfortable relying on my haircut to showcase the grandness of my imagination

Likewise, I’m not comfortable with your implication that Women might be so shallow as to go for a Man’s hair cut alone…

That’s because you’re going to a barber rather than a hairdresser. Find a nice lady to pamper your bonce and cut something stylish, rather than a no 2 all round. Wet cut is the future.
Aye, you’re spot on there, just as CG suggested, it’s time to look elsewhere for a more “stylish” result.
    It’s all good.

Just a thought, Cap’n Poldark really flaunted his tresses and that must have influenced some chaps to embrace their locks.
Not sure what you’re referring to there.

I’ve just reached a point where wearing my hair longer than I use to, appeals to me.
Ok, so some might say I’m lucky to have a full mane and I’m glad I still do. But that doesn’t make the choices any easier. Finding a Barber who can actually cut anything you might ask for, still seems to be a tall order, these days.
    Ho-Hey.

Nail well and truely struck there. It’s a fine line……

CG, as always I will give your guidance serious consideration, although pictures would have helped.

Then common sense kicked in and it’s getting lopped off on Tuesday as having to put time aside and using “product” doesn’t sit well with me. Have you seen some of the stuff out there that seems to hark back to the 50’s?
The prosecution rests! Middle aged man in “I can’t be arsed” shocker!

OK, it’s more like the 1940’s but you get the idea. Which is Men had hair cuts that didn’t result in a crop of hair 12.5mm from the surface of the skin on their head,

I’d just be grateful to get a hair cut I wanted and based upon recent experience, unless I walk in with a picture of what exactly I’m after, it’s the clippers for me, with a polite, “see you in three weeks” sucker!

Hey babe :-) happy to help, but I’m no more enlightened than before.

It’s flippin annoying going to get your hair cut, by men or women who automatically assume you just want it all cut short.
Of course, such an attitude could be the result of a biased view….
Using the clippers is a very simple, quick, job for a barber/hair dresser, no?….

All I can contribute is that wanting something that doesn’t result in a “Mr Smith” doesn’t seem to compute, in the part of the world I now reside in. :-(

I don’t want my hair cropped like this. Yes, it’s useful on the MTB during summer, but overall, no thanks.

No, no, no, no, NO! Men and “pony tales” belong in the 80s, so leave them there.

Well done, it’s good to see chaps embracing their locks. Will possibly need layering if it becomes unruly.

Interesting. My hair is getting longer and it’s a PITA getting it cut as most places just seem to shave it all off!!
So, without diverting the thread onto the topic of Men who have so little imagination or interest in their appearance that they just shave their hair to within 1/2 inch of their scalp.
Just what do you mean by “layering
    Pics may help?

…when you suggested tax freezes pre-election

A five year ban on income tax, VAT and NI???

The three largest revenue earners capped. Hmmm…..seems quite extreme/ballsy (you decide)

Sorry, haven’t read the entire thread. However, perhaps its as simple as this:

A ban on increasing certain taxes may be a “nice to have” but at this stage I take that proposal as an aspiration and I have no doubt that if that policy doesn’t produce the desired result, that the policy will be revised.
And for me this is more important than the BS. As we all know, nothing is written in stone and nothing is constant and so if things don’t go exactly as planned (as surely they can’t, always) then what I need is someone in charge who will alter their policy to adapt when required rather than sail the ship onto the rocks to save face.

MrSmith seems to know his movements but what about the average punter who’s just read about them on fora or been sold one by a dealer? Worse than the worst hifi tuning IMO!

Fair enough, your point appears to be that by the numbers, there’ll always be those among us with enough money to buy expensive items, but who may not understand or even value, the intangible, intrinsic, value of an item such as a hand built, steel road bike frame, the true value of which is literally brazed into the frame, produced by a true artisan and experienced frame builder.
Or a Swiss watch, some components of which are so small and delicate one would be forgiven for wondering how on earth such components were produced in the first place! Yet alone that as part of a movement, the thing keeps time.

So what I guess you’re diverting this thread towards is the subject of “taste“. And the age old debate about those who seem to have it and those who might not, but whom have lots of cash.
Imo, the former, should they be in a position to do so, will appreciate owning items such as has been mentioned, for reasons of good taste, appreciating the true value of an item for it’s intrinsic value, it’s traits and, in some cases, for the shear wonderment at the craftsmanship required to produce that thing.
All points that are usually lost upon to those who know the price of anything and the value of nothing.

And that isn’t a rebuke. Fair play to anyone who can stand up and declare that they’ve no idea what owning an automatic watch is really all about (and leave it at that, without criticizing) while they’re happy enough owning a £25 quartz jobby.

My point is none of you would know if your £5K watch had a cheap quartz movement.

I’m not saying its wrong, just stop pretending its not about one up man ship of some form

I own both quartz, solar quartz and automatic. Yeah, I can tell the difference and no, I don’t give a toss what anyone thinks about my watches, especially as I expect most folk don’t even notice them.
And as such, it is in no way about “one up-manship” as I fully understand there are plenty of people about who are likely to be waaaaaay more wealthier than me, but who simply choose not to own Swiss watches or drive certain cars, etc, etc.

I’ve chosen to own the watches I have, for me, nobody else. All this “status” and “making a statement” rubbish is just that, rubbish. Its the same with my cars, I don’t give a fig what anyone else thinks when they see any of my cars and more fool anyone who judges what type of person I might be on that basis. They’ll most certainly be wrong.
In fact, in my experience, the folk who harp about the expensive watches (expensive being relative), cars, whatever other people choose to own, appear to me to be ever so slightly jealous.

    Edit:
Yeah, and a bit of what Mr Smith posted, too ^^^

Reading this thread I think I must live very dangerously and close to the edge. A sensor light for the airbag on a car I am selling would take about 5 million years to get to the top of my Must Sort List

Too busy to read the thread also and if you want to drive a vehicle that is warning you there may be a safety system fault, then feel free to nominate yourself as a candidate for this year’s Darwin award while you’re at it.

Fixing the fault isn’t necessary. However, if the OP doesn’t fix the fault, all they should do is declare the fault to any prospective buyer, before a sale is agreed.

    Solo
    Free Member

If it’s not doing it all the time I’d be tempted to sell it on with my fingers crossed that it doesn’t light up while they’re having a look at it.

Unreal! I’d ask if you realize we’re discussing an AIRBAG fault.
    But, well, whatever.

Sold as seen, caveat emptor, n’est-ce pas?

Definitely not in this case (bit shocked you posted that, actually). Even more so if the vehicle has the feature to deactivate the passenger airbag when a child seat in placed in the front passenger seat!!!

As others have suggested, if you’re not going to have the fault fixed prior to selling the vehicle, then declare the fault from the start and take the hit of an appropriate reduction on the sale price.
Misleading someone about or omitting details of a fault with a safety device or system, isn’t an option, imo.
For sure you wouldn’t want to be in the position of being the buyer, were the roles reversed.
    Do unto others, etc.

    I have one of these:

I also have an Omega De Ville, an early-ish Co-Axial model:

Extended movement performance between services, compared with a more conventional escapement. Quite understated, imo, although I typically prefer Arabic numerals.

I like some of the IWC and Jaeger range also, which may be worth a look.

    GeeTee1972.

I’ve not done anything yet on the road wheel front, work has been a bit sketchy so I’ve had to hold back on large purchases.

However, I did read somewhere recently that Bontrager have/will be updating their Aeolus with a wider rim dimension, which I feel would be good news for anyone consider a set.

So while I might not be in a position to buy new wheels, at the moment. I have been moving up the tyre volume scale. I recently ran a pair of Strada which I was very pleased with. I’ve just fitted a pair of Paris Roubaix (27s) which hit the scales a little heavier than I had hoped for, while tyre clearance to the seat tube indicates I need not experiment with 28s/30s.
But on the strength of the Strada, I expect the Paris Roubaix will be more than sufficiently comfortable, as far as clinchers go.
    Cheers.

I don’t get stressed or wound up by it. But as mentioned above, some folk don’t give a toss at best or exercise this ever present, latent malice at worst. Which results in damaging other people’s kit.

So until the man with the white paint, get’s an updated set of CP dimensions reflecting the current size and cost of cars, I’ll be parking in two spaces. It’s cheap, it’s convenient, everybody wins.

That crease took a fair bit of force to create it. Completely avoidable if the perp had just a smidgen of common.

Imo, UK car parking slots are a joke. These days I’ve taken to parking across two spaces so that I’ve room to open the doors and to allow others to open the doors of their cars, without modifying the body work of either car.

Whoever dreams up the dimensions for UK car parking slots either doesn’t live in the real world, or owns a national chain of body repair centres.

Bars and extra security would of course have been an option, but I also wanted to keep the whole thing relatively simple and cheap.

Aye, windows would be a nice touch, but I sympathize. Sometimes seems like you can’t have anything these days for fear of someone, taking it.

My bikes live in the house, but believe me, I’d rather that wasn’t the case. But one is particularly special, so it has to stay indoors and out of sight when not being used.

You won’t die if you don’t get one, but tbh, I would.

I therefore decided that I would compromise daylight for security.

Hopefully a few fluorescent tubes will make it tolerable to work inside, and I’ll probably have the door propped open too

Just pin something to the wall:

Or use a glass treatment which inhibits viewing the contents, from the outside.

In a previous life, I checked and signed off the castings for the ramps of the UK Euro tunnel vehicle ramps.

So, not so much my favourite man made structure, but at least one I’ve had a part in producing, amongst other structures.

Since starting out, creating the profile of the sky line which you all drive past during your journey, I now contribute to designing the vehicles you use to travel in, passing the structures I had a hand in creating.
So, in my small way, I’ve been strangely fortunate enough to have participated in creating the vehicles you use to pass by the structures I’ve also had a hand in creating.

Sorry to learn that you’re in a bit of a bind, right now.

If you have the time and motivation, then I’d suggest reading “the diet delusion”. It’s a book someone else on here recommended, I went and bought it and it’s a enlightening read.

15 years ago, my GP told me that if you’re born with narrow viens and arteries then high BP is what you get!

However, since then I’ve done a lot of research and to cut to the chase.
    It aint’ so simple!

Remain positive. Ton is a great example of what one can achieve and you can do this too. It’s not over!

You can do the same! High BP isn’t always a one way street.
